Teacher Stress Relief
Would you like some teacher stress relief at work, in your classroom? I have been teaching for over two decades and I have learned some very effective ways to prevent teacher burnout and create the closest thing to utopia in my classroom. I'd like to share them with you. I enjoy being in my classroom. It's colorful, neat, organized and smells good. I have used
classroom feng shui
to make a peaceful environment. I enjoy my students. They often assign themselves homework, they work all period without much redirection, they are polite (this year, at least) and some of them make me laugh. My administrators are good to me (equipment, furniture, etc.) and support me with parents (although I almost never have requests for a conference) and they appreciate my unique teaching method. I don't write tests, give tests or grade tests. I use project based learning and assess my students performance on the spot. I don't give homework, so I don't need to score that either. Many of my students do homework because they see the value in it. There's no extra credit for doing it. I do not lecture or present class lessons. I do not write daily lesson plans and I do not perform in front of the class. I do not need more than a class set of textbooks and I do not need to do inventory or assess book fines at the end of the year. I do not take any work home with me. I enjoy my family and free time. I am a happy teacher. I know each of my students strengths and challenges. I differentiate my instruction with one-on-one teaching every day. Once in a while I invite a small group of students to my desk to review a topic that needs to be to mastered for a national or international baccalaureate (IB) exam. I spend my day teaching. That's why I love my job. I can show you how I do this. Visit
The Joyful Teacher.
This method can work for any subject area and grade level. With the Joyful Teacher System you can look forward to going to work every morning!
