As a full-time working mother of 3 young children, I do everything to prevent flu (but NO flu shots, because they are not necessary for my family, who has a strong immune system by doing what I describe on this website). Here are my best tips, that have kept our home flu-free.
GET MORE VITAMIN D
The vitamin D formed when your skin is exposed to sunlight regulates more than 2,000 genes throughout your body, including ones that influence your immune system to attack and destroy bacteria and viruses.
Hence, being overwhelmed by the “flu bug” could signal that your vitamin D levels are too low, allowing the flu virus to overtake your immune system.
Getting 20 minutes of sunshine on at least 40% of your body (face, neck, arms, hands, feet and calves) at least 2 times per week will keep your vitamin D levels up.
If you don't live in a sunny place, cod liver oil is the highest food source of vitamin D, however, check the bottle label to be sure that the manufacturer has not removed the vitamin D.
This very potent oil works wonders if your tonsils get sore and swollen. You can find this in most any health food store.
The best news is that olive leaf extract has been found to be a potent broad-spectrum antiviral agent, active against all viruses tested, including numerous strains of influenza and para-influenza viruses.
I place a drop of the liquid on each tonsil, and try not to gag!
