Stress Tips Philosophy

I would like to share with you the foundation of my stress tips philosophy. It took several years for me to put this all together.

I think everyone will find their own wisdom between my words.

My Intentions

I believe I am successful at helping others improve their life experiences by encouraging them to turn away from drama, and instead spend more time doing things that make them feel good.

I intend for my visitors to find, within themselves, the energy to put at least one of my stress tips into action. I know that their desire for more peace encourages them to come back to try more strategies and that makes them more powerful creators of their own joy.

It is also my intention that we consciously keep our thoughts positive; know that help is found by simply asking; and practice showing our love to everyone and everything we see, without exception.

My Most Powerful Influences

My stress relief philosophy is most influenced by five key things: a book (Journey of Souls), a movie (The Matrix), a theory (the law of attraction), a set of personal characteristics (the Pollyanna syndrome) and the study of the old and new testaments in the Bible. Allow me to explain what role they have in my way of living stress-free:

The Movie: The Matrix

If you have not yet seen The Matrix, I highly recommend it. Then live your life as if the basic concept of this movie is true: The everyday world we see all around us, is not real. Then choose the red pill (in the movie, that means you accept this premise) and repeat to yourself, every time something bad happens: "This is not real."

The next time someone makes us angry or sad, try not even looking at him or her. Instead, just walk away and say to yourself: "S/he is not really real." That avoids an emotional drama act, as well as a personal conflict and offers us the opportunity to go get stress relief.

The Law of Attraction

It's easy to understand: Like things attract like things. So, if our mind is constantly thinking about how bad things are, we attract more bad things into our life.

On the other hand, if we keep our mind filled with positive thoughts and wishes, then those must enter our life. That creates lots of stress relief.

The key to your understanding, and making this 'law' work for stress relief is two-fold:

1. You must realize that YOU have created every good and bad situation in your life. YOU are responsible for everything in your daily life- everything that makes you happy, and everything that makes you sad or angry. Anytime you point the finger of blame at someone or something else, YOU are giving away your power to control your life and setting yourself up with more bad things to come your way. It's all about YOU. Nobody else. So stop talking about what he did, or what she said, that messed you up. Stop thinking about it too! Forgive yourself (meaning, forgive your mind) for creating the bad situation and move on.

2. The only requirements to make your dreams come true, are to have some very specific dreams (that you can see already with your imagination), and to feel good as often and as long as possible. That's it. Every time you feel really good for at least a couple minutes, you attract more elements of your dreams towards you. It is imperative that you do everything possible to feel happy and grateful as much of each day as possible. This is also instant stress relief!

When you notice you've lost your temper, made a hurtful comment, or thought about how bad something is; you must immediately erase it by introducing a more powerful thought of apology/forgiveness/kindness into your thought stream. Knowing this, you can probably understand now why many people don't read the newspaper or watch the news on TV, since that would require constant work at getting your positive thinking back on track.

An Amazing Look at Life between Lives

I read a book Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives which has completely changed my life, , as well as the sequel: Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives. I believe these two books provide the most meaningful glimpse into our real life (not the drama we are living out here on Earth). The descriptions of life on the other side rang very true to me.

This book made it clear to me, that the life we are living here now on Earth is so very similar to a play being acted out on a stage. Our lives are a drama, where we are both the star of the production, as well as the director. Everyone you see around you is in costume following a script that is written by each individual, moment by moment. Our entire experience here is a learning and growing opportunity- a playground of sorts.

This message is the same as in The Matrix: what we see around us and what we are experiencing are not really real. I've learned that our true reality can be only be accessed from a point inside of us or through the transition from being a physical being back to being our real energy being.

Here's a bigger reality to focus on: we all are here on this planet to be to learn, to grow, to overcome challenges, find joy and make the most of OUR OWN journey. We are not here to control or judge someone else's journey. Therefore, it is important to allow people to have their own journey without our interference or unsolicited opinions. This can reduce stress by 50%.

When someone does something that you don't approve of...just think loudly to yourself: "That's his/her journey- NOT mine."

Then look, or walk, away. No judgment, no unhappiness, no worry! I replace my negative thoughts with any thought that makes me feel better (or I go read a good book, or listen to my favorite music). This brings me great stress relief.

Note: please don't apply this philosophy to young children. We can not be disinterested or uninvolved in setting them up for a rewarding life journey. I believe it's a parent's job to provide them with a clean, safe and loving environment with healthy food and water, as well as clean clothes that fit properly. It is also our responsibility to kindly teach them honesty, responsibility, independence, peaceful conflict resolution, respect for their planet and the life that inhabits it. Children want nothing more than our attention and love. These things are free, but are often the easiest for parents to overlook. As a public school teacher, I know too many neglected children, so I'm not promoting a disinterest in any young child's life by saying we should only focus on our own journey.

The Holy Bible

When my life was at its most stressful point, I was introduced to Bible study. A student in my class told me that the best way to start reading the Bible was to begin with the book of John. He was correct.

Going to a new church also provided much stress relief, as I could sit quietly and listen to something truly interesting (instead of chatting with friends). I loved learning to read between the lines; and I still think that the most compelling words are those of Christ. I found some solace in His words, but volunteer duties at church and getting myself and my children there on time every Sunday was very stressful.

I continued with online studies, TV lessons and a study by mail course. I really started noticing how mysterious some of Christ's words were (I'm paraphrasing below):

  • You can move a mountain with the faith of a mustard seed.
  • My father's house has many mansions.
  • You can do this and much more (speaking about raising Lazarus from his death).

I read many different interpretations of these words and felt drawn to those that suggested Christ really meant what he said. When I started learning about other ancient teachings, I noticed similar statements about the innate, but silent power we have within ourselves. Later, The Secret, brought these lessons into the public arena.

Eventually, I noticed that these five sources of inspiration, all supported each other. That meant I had a theory to test. Being trained as a researcher, I loved my freely-chosen, not assigned homework project.

The Pollyanna Syndrome

Who is Pollyanna?

Pollyanna is a best-selling 1913 novel by Eleanor H. Porter that is now considered a classic in children's literature. The most recent incarnation of a Pollyanna character is Poppy, the main character in the 2008 Mike Leigh film Happy-Go-Lucky.

The Pollyanna syndrome has come to refer to someone who is naively and unrealistically optimistic. That is what I suggest for my readers: become optimistic beyond belief.

People who use the derogatory term, “Pollyanna Syndrome” never read the original book. That little girl didn’t deny the bad events in her life. She just didn’t wallow in self-pity and make everybody else miserable. And she based her philosophy on Christ’s teachings.

This was a form of stress relief.

However, I'm going to take it a step further; asking my visitors to take their optimism and jump down a deep magical rabbit hole, like in the movie Alice in Wonderland.

Speaking of rabbit holes and movies...if you haven't seen it yet, please consider getting a copy of What the Bleep Do We Know!?.

This can help you greatly on your journey to living a stress-reduced life.

My Secret Recipe:

When I mixed the Pollyanna Syndrome, both themes from the Matrix and the Journey of Souls with the Law of Attraction and the mystical words of Christ in the Holy Bible...voila, I became the co-creator of my life (for good or bad). Being the co-creator of our experiences is a great stress relief tool, because then we know that our life is NOT at the mercy of anyone or anything around us.

We must give ourselves a pat on the back for every good thing that happens to us; and we must take complete responsibility for everything unpleasant that happens to us. No ifs, ands or buts on this policy. What we think about, we bring about. Literally.

Here is a summary of my philosophy that influences everything I talk about on this website:

  • We have all the power we need to change our life.
  • We give our power away when we blame someone or something for our problems.
  • Our life is not as real, as we think it is.
  • We create every moment and situation in our life with our own subconscious and conscious thoughts.
  • There's nothing more important than our happiness.
