This page is about an ancient Hawaiian Huna method of stress reduction (release) and problem solving called Ho'oponopono.
The word Ho'oponopono means to make right, to rectify an error.
How does Ho'oponopono work?
According to Morrnah Simeona (famous modern Huna teacher):
"We are the sum total of our experiences, which is to say that we are burdened by our pasts. When we experience stress or fear in our lives, if we would look carefully, we would find that the cause is actually a memory.
It is the emotions which are tied to these memories which affect us now. The subconscious associates an action or person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this occurs, emotions are activated and stress is produced."
She continues, "The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself.
Ho'oponopono is a profound gift which allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past."
Every memory of every experience, since the first moment of our creation, eons ago, is recorded as a thought form which is stored in the etheric realm. This incredible recorder/computer is also known as the subconscious, unihipili or child aspect within us.
The most important task for people is to find his or her true identity and place in the Universe. This process allows that understanding to become available.
In this system, there is no need to analyze, solve, manage or cope with problems. Since the Divinity created everything, you can just go directly to Him and ask that it be corrected and cleansed.
In the area of problem solving: the world is a reflection of what is happening inside us.
If you are experiencing upset or imbalance, the place to look is inside yourself, not outside at the object you perceive as causing your problem.
Every stress, imbalance or illness can be corrected just by working on yourself.
You don't need to go one inch outside yourself for answers or help. There is no one who can give you any more relevant information than you can get by going within yourself.
Everything can be handled by you and the Divinity.

It's So Simple and It Works!
This ancient Huna technique can be used by everyone. While looking or thinking about something or someone upsetting to you, repeat the following statements (aloud or silently to yourself):
"I love you _____." (add your own name, or the word: "self")
"I forgive you _____." (add your own name, or the word: "self")
"I'm sorry ____." (add your own name, or the word: "self")
"Thank you ____." (add your own name, or the word: "self")
You may be surprised to find out that your statements are not actually meant for the person or situation that's stressing you out. You are actually talking to you!
Many people, including myself, believe that we create everything that we experience each day through the use of our five senses.
Our mind receives the information from seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and touching. It has stored lots of negative input from our journey through life.
These negative experiences create little "hick-ups" in our mind's activity of creating the environment around us.
These bumps result in an unpleasant experience for us.
When we look at the unpleasant scenario, and say these 4 Ho oponopono Huna statements, we are in effect speaking to our mind and erasing the glitch that caused the stressful situation.
We are saying to our own mind: I love you; I'm sorry for creating this unpleasant situation in my life (yes, WE take responsibility for what happened in our experience- even though it may well be true that we had nothing at all to do with it); I forgive you for creating this stressful situation; and thank you for letting me erase this glitch so it can never create again.
Once we have done that, the glitch is permanently removed and no longer exists in our mind. That means it can never be the cause of another stressful event in our life.
Ho o pono pono is a detox system for our mind. It cleans out old, buried, negative programming. It is simple and it works.
If this is a large pill to swallow for you, I understand. But you're here to learn new ways to deal with stress.
And I'm hoping that I've delivered one to you with this stress management strategy, from the Hawaiian spiritual system of Huna called ho oponopono.
Your FREE Stress Tip
It is very unlikely that you will remember these phrases, until you've used them a lot. So, I'm suggesting that you print this page or copy the four statements and keep them in an easy place to find for the next time you experience stress.
For my students at school, I write the letters L-F-S-T on the whiteboard in my classroom for students to refer to when they need some serious stress relief. Each letter stands for the main word in each statement.
You could write these 4 letters just about anywhere you can see them (bathroom mirror, dash board of your car, etc.).
