Healthy Drinks Do Not Include Milk
I feel strongly that the best healthy drinks for humans are spring water (
read about my view on the benefits of water
), tea, green smoothies, nut milks and human milk (for human babies). But the grocery store's cow's milk is definitely bad for you! I imagine that many people when they read that last statement may become defensive. After all, most of us grew up drinking milk and continue to serve it to our children. And we seem healthy enough, right? Allow me to briefly explain my position (based on numerous scientific studies). For one thing, if you look up the pH level of milk you will discover that it is acidic, with a pH of 6.5. That means the body will neutralize milk products by adding a base substance (taking calcium out of our bones)to the blood. This is not a good thing.
If you are not too familiar with the pH scale, let me summarize it:
The pH scale is from 0 to 14, with numbers below 7 acidic (low on oxygen) and numbers above 7 alkaline. The blood, lymph and cerebral spinal fluid in the human body are designed to be slightly alkaline at a pH of 7.4. At a pH slightly above 7.4 cancer cells become dormant and at pH 8.5 cancer cells will die while healthy cells will live.
So, eating and drinking foods with a pH range from 8-14 is a good healthy goal. However, the pH of our blood should not be too alkaline (because that makes it poisonous to the body). You can check your body's pH level by using saliva or urine test strips sold in pharmancies and natural food stores. The best, healthy range is between 6.75 and 7.5, with a goal of 7.25.
What Happens When Your Have Unbalnced pH Levels?
Do you, or someone you love, have arthritis, acid indigestion, acid reflux, gastritis, chronic fatigue, allergies, skin disorders, osteoporosis, diabetes, asthma, anemia, cancer, gum and dental problems, or arteries clogged with choresterol?
Here's an awesome article for your to read by Dr. Robert Friedman:

Unbalanced pH May Be the Cause of Your Health Problems!
An unbalanced pH level can increase the acid level in your body; therefore increasing your chances of suffering from acid indigestion, acid reflux, chronic fatigue, allergies, skin disorders, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, asthma, anemia, cancer and gastritis, gums and dental problems. It is important that you take measures to balance your pH.
Today, the vast majority of the populace of the Western industrialized nations suffers from problems caused by acidification, because both modern lifestyle and diet promote acidification of the body's internal environment. In general, the current standard diet is primarily composed of acidic or acidifying elements (proteins, cereals, sugars). Alkaline food such as vegetables are eaten in much smaller quantities. Their alkaline content is insufficient to neutralize surplus acids. Furthermore, the consumption of stimulants like tobacco, coffee, tea, and alcohol - every one of which has an extremely acidifying effect on the body - has grown to enormous proportions. Stress, nervous tension, noise, shortage of time, and other pressures are facts of life today and contribute to increasing the body's acidification through the physiological disturbances they create.
What happens in the body when your pH is off?
The human body needs to take in the right amount of acidic and alkalizing nutrients to maintain a healthy pH balance. Your daily intake should be 20% acidic and 80% alkalizing. If this balance is not maintained, the body has to compensate in the following ways:
It first robs minerals from the bones, joints, muscles, gallbladder and mucousal lining of the digestive track.
When the body robs calcium from the bones you can develop a weak back. If Ieft untreated, this can develop into Osteoporosis (low bone density).
Robbing calcium and sodium from the joints can cause them to start to lock up, get stiff, sore and/or crack. After a time, the immune system often attacks acid which may settle in the joints. A doctor would probably diagnose this as "arthritis".
Minerals robbed from the muscles, ligaments, and tendons increase the likelihood of an injury or tear. Acid deposited in the muscles can cause fibromyalgia, soreness and/or stiffness. Minerals robbed from the heart muscle can cause weakening, arrhythmia and angina.
If the body needs to rob minerals from the lining of the intestinal track, or if the body tries to eliminate acid through the intestine, you could develop pain in the colon, colitis, diarrhea, Crohn's or irritable bowel.
Natural sodium is often robbed from the lining of the esophagus. If enough erosion happens, it can prevent the sphincter muscle at the top of the stomach from closing properly, resulting in heartburn, acid reflux or GERD. Damage to the esophagus can cause difficulty in swallowing or a narrowing of the esophagus.
To protect you, the body will try to eliminate acid through the bowel, kidneys, skin and respiratory system. Eliminating through the lungs (lower respiratory system) can cause asthma. If acid settles in the sinuses (upper respiratory system), the body will try to dilute it with mucus, which can result in post nasal drip or sinus problems.
Eliminating through the urinary system can cause blood in the urine and/or bladder irritation, cystitis, and later on kidney damage. It can also increase the likelihood of developing UTI's (Urinary Track Infections).
When the body's pH is acidic for a long period of time, it can start changing the blood's pH from an ideal 7.41 to a more acidic 7.35, which can cause irritation and inflammation in the arteries. In response to this, the body will line the arteries with cholesterol to protect the arteries from the pH imbalance.
When the body gets to the point that it can no longer rob minerals safely, the body will commission the liver to produce ammonia in order to help neutralize the acid. This causes alkalinity or a pH above 7.0
Since Dr. Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 and 1946 for his studies on how cancer can not thrive in an alkaline medium, people often think the more alkaline the better. This is incorrect! Although acid burns the cells, alkalinity poisons. Alkalinity mimics symptoms of acidosis. The only way to know your pH for sure is to test your saliva and urine with test strips. The body functions at its best when the pH of its internal biochemical environment, measured as a whole, is equal to 7.25. The normal range of this optimum pH is very small, from a slightly acidic reading of 6.75 to a more alkaline reading of 7.5. If these limits are exceeded, the body can no longer function, and illness appears.

Best Healthy Drinks
So what are the best drinks to consume? Here are the top choices:
NUMBER ONE: PURE CLEAN SPRING WATER
Spring water has a huge amount of hydrogen in it and then that hydrogen, especially if it's been vortexed (spun around in a spiral motion), becomes a super powerful antioxidant. In fact, it's the best antioxidant, because it knocks out free radical oxygen by turning it back into water.
In an ideal situation, we would fill our own water jugs directly from the source of a natural spring. I have discovered where my closest natural spring is located, but I don't know yet if I can help myself to it's magical, love-infused water. Many people drink distilled water, but I have two concerns about water that has been boiled and the minerals have been removed. First of all, this water has been cooked, so it's dead. I don't love consuming dead products. Second, I see companies sell liquid supplements for distilled water that put the healthy parts of water back in. So, it seems that this dead water, is also void of any good ingredients that fresh, spring water contains. With tea, the water is boiled (dead), but healthy green leaves are soaked in it, so the good is put into the dead water. Maybe the distilled water with the liquid supplements is a good choice, as well.
NUMBER TWO: TEA Drinking a cup of hot tea is an ancient way for how to deal with stress. Use spring water, if possible. Organic, green tea has the most research backing up its many incredible health benefits. Your FREE Stress Tip Here is a simple recipe for a Superfoods Tea. Add any or all of the following ingredients to your loose tea (buy some paper tea bags, or a cloth tea net, to fill yourself) before you add hot water and let it sit. - a few raw cacao beans (this will add a hint of chocolate flavor to the tea as well as add additional antioxidants contained in the cacao).
- a few goji berries into the tea (this will add a hint of berry flavor to the tea as well as add additional antioxidants contained in the goji berries).
- a vanilla bean (remove the seeds from inside the bean first).
- stir in 1 tablespoon of yacon root syrup (for an extra boost to the immune system without raising blood sugar levels). It is best to stir in the sweetener after the tea has cooled to body temperature.
Note: We can use this tea as a base for our smoothies. NUMBER THREE: Green Smoothies Green smoothies are smoothies with greens blended through them. Quite simple really. Greens are loaded with amino acids, (the building blocks of protein), minerals, vitamins, fiber and chlorophyll. Greens are incredibly nutritious, however people struggle to eat enough of them with regard to quantity and many find them hard to digest. It has been suggested that this is due to not having enough stomach acid and not having enough jaw strength to chew them till they are a creamy consistency. Blended greens have their structure ripped apart and are effectively pre-digested. Adding fruit makes them taste great and is also a clever way of getting a lot of fruit into our diet, which most people don't have enough of in addition to enough greens. Visit my page on

This is a great alternative to cow's milk, because it looks similar but it does not come from an animal, does not build mucus in the body, and is not acidic. Coconut milk (also Coconut water) is a superfood that can be used as a delcious addition to cereal, granola, smoothies, pancakes, etc. You can make your own nut milks or just buy them from any store with a "green" healthy section.
a Jersey Cow and a Guernsey Cow
Dr. Mercola Recommends Raw MilkOnce milk has been cooked, the natural enzymes have been destroyed, helpful bacteria are killed, vitamins are weakened, milk proteins are altered into an unhealthy condition; in summary the product is dead and harmful. Raw milk can even be consumed and digested well by many people allergic to regular milk. However, the upper respiratory complications from drinking milk are still a health problem. There’s surprising good news that solves the entire store-bought, pasteurized, milk problem: Drinking organic, raw milk from grass-fed cows that are from better breeds, such as Jersey’s, Guernsey’s, Asian or African. These are called A2 breeds and their milk is genetically the best! Find out if anyone near you sells raw milk (look for key words: organic, grass-fed/pastured, raw and the name of the breed): http://realmilk.com/where.html
The Best Animal Milk is Goat Milk
If someone wants a healthy drink from an animal (or likes to eat cheese), then milk from a goat is the best choice.
What does goat's milk give you that cow's milk doesn't? In many parts of the world, goats milk is preferred to cow's milk. Even in the United States, the goat is gaining popularity.
Goats eat less and occupy less grazing space than cows, and in some families the backyard goat supplies milk for family needs.
Goat's milk is believed to be more easily digestible and less allergenic than cow's milk.
What Makes Goat Milk Better Than Cow's Milk?
- Safer (no antibiotic residues, growth hormones, BST, or other contaminants are used on goats and cow milk proteins have properties which suppress the immune system. Goat milk does not have these immunosuppressive properties.)
- Easier to Digest
- Better for Lactose Intolerant People
- Soothes the Digestive Tract
- Alkalinizer of the System
- Twice the Healthful Medium Chain Fatty Acids
- Does not Produce Mucous
- Rich Source of the Trace Mineral Selenium
- Most Similar to Human Milk (see table below)
